A dollar makes a
difference. As one of the poorest countries on earth, many families in Nepal struggle to get by on less than a dollar a day. Your donation can make an enormous impact on the life of impoverished child, replacing desperation with hope. Won’t you consider donating knowing that your dollar goes so far? Did you know that: Just $10 a month provides a scholarship for a young student for an entire year. So many children never see the inside of a classroom, because poverty keeps them at home, in the fields, or engaging in backbreaking child labor. We enroll a child in school, and provide the critical support, including supplies, to keep them there. $30 can purchase internet access in our Learning Centers for three months allowing hundreds of students in a village to access a world of knowledge, bringing low-income producers in contact with potential buyers and reuniting families torn apart by poverty through our innovative LIFELINE PROGRAM. All internet access is provided free to the community, once we thread miles of phone line across rice paddies and banana groves. A $35 donation to our LIFESTOCK PROGRAM gifts a female dairy goat to a struggling family, supplying them with several quarts of nutrient-rich milk a day, supplemental income through the sale of extra milk for dairy products, goat manure to fertilize gardens and up to 2-3 goat kids a year to multiply the benefits and provide long-lasting economic independence. $40 a month 'adopts' a orphan in our HOPE HOUSE ORPHANAGE for children of conflict. Help us provide a lifeline for children orphaned by the devestating Maoist insurgancy ravaging the countryside. We've found children as young as 6 fending for themselves and their baby siblings after their parents were killed in front of them or disappeared in the middle of night. For the price of cable, you can help us take in another child, give them a safe home, food for empty stomachs, love to soothe devestated souls, and an education to create a future. $50 covers the rent and electricity for one village Learning Center from which so many of our activities are based out of, including the computer lab, the tuition center and other community programs. $70 donated to our HOPE SUPPLIES PROGRAM bought science lab equipment for a rural secondary school to allow students to see science in action and test theories they had only previously been able to read about. $50 bought pencils and notebooks for 300 children at another school, many of whom had never had a notebook of their own, and $35 for volleyball equipment for another allowing students to enjoy recreation activities that support their physical and bodily development. $100 in our FOOD FOR THE SOUL PROGRAM provides a feast lasting several days for 10 families during the holidays, allowing every individual the dignity to celebrate without worry. $150 onetime donation provides a scholarship for an older student for a year. Plus, in our Learning Center they can access the internet and can open a line of communication directly to you, our donors - their lifelines. $200 buys one laser printer for a village Learning Center allowing teachers to create education aids for rural schools with scant resources or provide local cottage industries with professional services like one mother’s group who created labels for their home-made jams to sell in the big city, providing their family with desperately needed income. $300 buys one computer for a village Learning Center allowing us to keep providing free computer literacy courses and offer continuous access to technology to improve their daily lives. In a single year, one computer alone reaches over 70 new students and offer the benefits of productivity, communication and professionalism – the first steps in achieving economic independence and financial security for people living on the edge. Gifts of all sizes may be combined to total the $3000 necessary to open and maintain for three months a new Community Learning Centers in remote Himalayan villages to bring the benefits of education and technology to other communities and thousands of potential students of all ages. In one year a single center can provide the gift of computer literacy to over 400 students, prepare 100 low-income students for the grueling School Leaving Certificate exam, and act as a warehouse to distribute vital educational and health information to the community. A center offers a level of economic independence and security previously unknown and works to revitalize communities devastated and demoralized by poverty. A generous individual or group gift of $3000 to start a new Learning Center are recognized as the Founder of that center by the community and by HOPE Initiative including a special benefactors plaque within the center. Your involvement can be as little or as great as you choose, including communicating by email with students who have directly benefited from your generosity or visiting a center in Nepal. For pocket change for many of us, your donation gives root to hope in difficult conditions. HOPE needs your HELP to enhance the lives of the poor. Please give what you can, knowing that 100% of every dollar goes straight towards helping the desperately disadvantaged. THAT'S OUR PROMISE TO YOU. |
