HOPE Handicrafts
In order to broaden our fundraising efforts, in 2005 we launched a fair
trade handicraft initiative to sell handicrafts made by local Nepalese
producers with all proceeds from the sales going directly to serve Nepal's
neediest. Our handicrafts are all purchased from either certified non
profit fair trade organizations or directly from local artisans and
producer groups in Nepal so that we can double our impact. We believe that
one of the best ways to uplift individuals in developing countries is to
develop just trading partnerships that pay producers a fair living wage
for their labor. To that end, HOPE Handicrafts believes we can
support our charitable mission both by providing a valuable market for
fair trade goods supporting grass-roots producers and by pouring all
proceeds back into our programs in Nepal.
Our handicrafts were sold at various fundraisers in New Jersey and
Illinois, as well as at local church alternative giving fairs. It was very
successful and we hope to replicate that success through launching our
fair trade internet shop HOPE Handicrafts in late summer of 2006.
Until that time, feel free to learn more about Fair Trade, about our
artisans and link to our partner producer organizations in Nepal as well
as a number of carefully selected fair trade shops who support the same
just causes we do.
Thank you and please check back soon for the launch of HOPE
Handicrafts.
